Arthur Mackie - the man who designed the tartan and controls its distribution
Sad to say Arthur Mackie passed away at the beginning of this year.
The company of which he was a Director, Strathmore Woollens of Forfar, continues to produce this tartan on behalf of the Royal Air Force.

Re: Remembrance Sunday in Hawick
Sad Alex, hadn't heard that yet.
The tartan is now controlled by the Royal Air Force Association and a percentage of all sales goes to the RAFA. That's a great thing.
The RAFA is now openly promoting the tartan. Took me nearly a year to find and communicate with Mr. Mackie and get permission. Actually, it was my kiltmaker who finally was able to initiate corrsependence due to her mill connections.
It looks great on you Alex and its a beautiful tartan even without the formal connection to the RAF.

As ever Alex, you give us a tour when you submit your photos. Nice to see the KOSB Trews (Leslie Tartan) in the Regiments recruiting area.

Fantastic and moving photos. It's great to see so many old soldiers on the march again, ramrod straight!
As a small Highland Dress matter, I find the Glengarries with green&white dicing very interesting.

Green & white dicing was worn by the Calcutta Scottish regiment, along with green & white diced hose, although I can't say I noticed any glens with that particular dicing in this thread. The colour party appeared to have glens with grey and yellow dicing...

Yes, the Glengarries of the colour party, which on my computer have olive green and offwhite dicing, which I've not seen previously.
Maybe it's like so many other things, where the colours as they appear in photos is deceiving.
