Re: What is your Christmas day meal this year?
We're pigging out.
Roast duck, cider baked gammon and roast venison.
Carrots, roast potatoes and cabbage from our allotment.
Pigs in blankets (bacon wrapped sausages).
Mustard gravy.
Kulfi icecream and mini eclairs for desert.
All washed down with a rather good bottle of cava one of our cubs gave the wife.
If I can manage anythign after that, a selection of cheeses and pate with a VERY good port one of our cubs gave me.

Re: What is your Christmas day meal this year?
I and the parrot are on our own this weekend: My lass leaves today to spend it with her parents out of state. But we'll be house-sitting down at her place; and we'll have our own celebration New Year's weekend.
So it'll probably be some "comfort food" this weekend that Chiyome and I both like:

Re: What is your Christmas day meal this year?
Our meal was tonight... tomorrow we'll be going to my wife's parents home for lasagna... my Italian mother-in-law thinks the Christmas tradition of Baccala (salted cod) is second only to Mussolini in terms of Italia's "Bad Ideas".
My mom cooked prime rib and mashed potatoes.
My sister brought a broccoli casserole.
My aunt brought brown rice casserole and some dessert concoction with oreos and whipped cream.
My wife made a combo of couscous with cranberries and string beans with bacon.
I made homemade egg nog with organic dairy/eggs, fresh nutmeg, turbinado sugar, a very small amount of sea salt, copious amounts of Sailor Jerry rum, and a flask of Jameson's to float on the nog.
I personally put down two slabs of prime rib and some green beans, as I don't each starch very often and no grains whatsoever. Dessert was the egg nog... which not surprisingly (with 1 pint of heavy cream and two pints of whole milk to a 1 gallon batch) was more filling than anything else I put away tonight.
Have fun and throw far. In that order, too. - o1d_dude

I thought my kids would turn their noses up at it, but they both really liked haggis - so they may surprise you.
My wife's grandfather is German, so we'll be having sauerkraut, bratwurst, rolaten, spaetzle, etc. I'm a huge fan of German cuisine, so I'm really looking forward to it!

Shrimp cocktail - followed by Roast Beef with Yorkshire pudding, garlic mashed potatoes, a variety of roast winter vegetables and probably Brussels sprouts.
Apple pie, peach pie, mincemeat tarts, pecan pie.
Merry Christmas everyone.

As I'm a confirmed bachelor, I haven't decided if I'm going to cook something simple for myself or go out.

Re: What is your Christmas day meal this year?
Ours is actually Christmas Eve. It'll be a roast pork loin with potatoes and carrots in the pot, szechuan beans, mashed potatoes and gravy, and something else.
Oh,yeah, there'll be homemade egg nog with vanilla rum. And designated drivers for anyone visiting!

As it is likely to be stinking hot at this end of the planet, we will be having seafood entrees, BBQ'd lamb, roast turkey breast, cold ham, potatoes with assorted vegetables and strawberries with icecream for dessert. As I will be doing the BBQing, a good supply of gin and tonic

Re: What is your Christmas day meal this year?
I do not know what all my wife has on tap, but I do know that we're having a locally raised & prepared ham (Hemplers) and Ami (my wife) is making cheesy scallop potatoes from scratch.
I also know that a tradition that has been done for the past 12 or 13 years for my niece and daughter will continue. Its a homemade "birthday cake" for Jesus.
