Thanks...
Sorry, John, I forgot that not everyone knows the Tavern. Here are all the details:
1. Dress is casual (not all of our attenders even own black tie attire), but I do encourage appropriate dress. A tie and sweater at a minimum is appreciated.
2. Dinner is $20. If you bring children, they can order off the menu for a cheaper dinner. The cost includes full dinner (haggis, neeps and tatties, tea or water, etc. + one shot of scotch to toast the haggis). If you want to order from the bar, it's on your own tab.
3. The Supper is at 6:00 PM on Jan. 28, but many of us will gather as early as 4:00 (or even earlier) to drink, compare kilts, etc., and lie.
4. We will need a reservation in advance as seating is limited. I'll get back to you about advance pay once I've spoken to Greg, the owner. We'll need a definite head count for sure.
5. The location is the Celtic Tavern, where we've have all 5 previous annual suppers. We've gone from 6 or 7 the first years to over 30 now days. go to http://conyersceltictavern.com/ for details on the Tavern itself.
6. Anyone coming from out of town can stay at the Jameson or LaQuinta Inn. I think both are satisfactory and close to the Tavern. If you want a cab, it would be a minimal charge.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
And, BTW, I do not get any compensation or kick-back for this stuff. I just love the Supper and seeing my friends. If weather permits, we'll all be hanging out in front, listening to the pipes, and telling great tales of daring do.

I am not back yet, but will be by then. It will be good to see everyone after 2 years. I hope I have at least one kilt that is still presentable!

Re: Conyers, GA Burns Supper
P.S. A jacket/sweater and tie are NOT required! We have regulars who show up in sweaters or some such, and it's just fine. The kilt police will not be in attendance!
The Saint Andrews Society this is not! It's a very low key gathering of very nice folks who celebrate Burns's work and life. . . and enjoy the opportunity to get out in the middle of winter.

Re: Conyers, GA Burns Supper
Jim,
There is no need to try to come up with vegetarian haggis. I will just order off the menu.
Thanks for all the work you do to make this happen!

Everyone who has already reserved a place has not listed here, so you should know that I already have about 25 or so down. I hope some others who often come will be signing up soon.

Re: Conyers, GA Burns Supper
int: Jim... I know that it's required by The Rules... There Has to Be Haggas at the Burns Supper !!!... My Wife said that she would like to come to the Supper but she's afraid that she won't make it to the Haggas, and I have some reservations as to my intestinal fortitute when it comes to the Haggas also. Can we order from the menu also as some have already mentioned, for the cost of the admittance? Would love to come, but not if my Wife & I can't stomack it. Thanks for your time...

Re: Conyers, GA Burns Supper
I should have mentioned to one and all that we do offer shepherd's pie--best you've ever eaten--for the sissies and the faint-of-heart at the supper. In fact, most first timers come planning to eat the shepherd's pie but leave singing the praises of the wonder and the glory of our haggis.
Along with it will be:
* cock-a-leeky soup
* neeps and tatties
* bread pudding that would get Paula Dean fired (with a whisky sauce that'll make a chef proud)
* One shot of whisky to toast the haggis
Of course the bar is open to all you want on your own, and they offer soft drinks, tea, water , and other forms of refreshment. There's something for everyone.

My lovely bride and I are looking forward to being there again this year!
For those asking about hotels I've stayed at both the Jameson Inn and the Holiday Inn nearby and both are great choices.

Of course it's fine not to drink. (I hope everyone knows that the drinking jokes are greatly exagerated! )
My jokes about all the drinking are just that: jokes. There will be some imbibing of some refreshing beverages that contain alcohol, but many folks don't dirnk at all. I do hope you can make it.
Now, the cattle reiving . . . that's real.
