Now please tell me she's staying inside.

My wife was a vet tech years ago and is firm about these things. I had no idea "declawing" a cat meant actually lopping off its last knuckle...

And, for the record, I never "got" cats until I, um, got a cat last year. Still more a dog person, but our cat is !

Hope all goes well for her and you.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

And one step down from using a whisk broom.

Meghan: As a shelter volunteer, thank your parents for me. I'm not really a cat person, but thanks to the work, I've met some wonderful cats, each of whom has a story and definite personalities. Such as Trinity, the Scottish Fold, who is starting to accept my presence. Or Chicago, a Tabby youngster, who cries out when I enter his room, until I give him some personal attention. And if anyone is looking for pet, please check your local animal shelter. You just might find your next feline or canine friend there.

I didn't really want a pet but my wife really did so we ended up with a beautiful kitten and we named her Guinness. I have leather couches so the agreement was No Claws! Guinness does pretty well without them as she remains an indoor cat only... My wife is also and avid fan of True Blood, so welcome Sssssoookie!

Re: We got a new cat :)

You might want to invest in some lint brushes, and if you don't already store kilts in suit bags, you might want to start. I have three cats, and it is sometimes a challenge to keep my kilts free of fur. Fortunately, one of my kilts matches one of the cats nearly purrr-fectly, and I'm ordering a weathered tartan which probably won't show the colours of the other two.
EPITAPH: Decades from now, no one will know what my bank balance looked like, it won't matter to anyone what kind of car I drove, nor will anyone care what sort of house I lived in. But the world will be a different place, because I did something so mind bafflingly eccentric that my ruins have become a tourist attraction.
