Re: Ordered my first kilt (Stillwater thrifty)
Welcome from the frigid central coast.
A Stillwater Thrifty is this writer's favourite summer kilt; the velcro closure, light weight, forgiving fabric, perfect with a tee or Hawaiian shirt and a beer.
For your next one, give their Economy a serious look; real straps and an upgrade for only a few copper drachmas and iron rils. And the Stillwater Standard is to this mind a tremendous bargain, as well.
Enjoy!

I ordered one of their New year Economy Kilts -100% Wool! Old kilt worn, and been wearing trews for a few years with a bad knee. Knee better, and their starting the year off right with wool economy kilts seamed like a good deal....

The kilt arrived today. I think it is a good quality, especially for the price!
Last kilt was an acrylic one from two decades ago, and prior, wore a military kilt. My trews are WPG and old military. Not an expert, but for the price, the kilt is a good deal, especially for wool.
It is a lighter wool, but hangs well. I always like a heavy leather for the belts, but still good quality with those. I am happy...

If your talking about the SWK Thrifty, it's not wool and I wouldn't go near any flames with it!
The hielan' man he wears the kilt, even when it's snowin';
He kens na where the wind comes frae,
But he kens fine where its goin'.

Re: Ordered my first kilt (Stillwater thrifty)
as glen mentioned above, there are two 100% wool kilts listed in the swk economy section--black watch and leatherneck. i received a black watch this week, and it is lighter weight, pakistani, pleats sewn to 8 inches, 24 inch drop. i live in the south, and this i will be able to wear in the summer. this is much nicer than my acrylic knockabouts (plus no fire concerns).

Good on you for the kilt.
'Purchased a Thrifty last summer and it is in this opinion THE perfect knockaround lightweight. This one is worn with teees and polos and safari shirts and with low price, no fear of getting beer, food or rhinocerous snot on it. GREAT value!
