    Re: Casual Kilt Arrives!

No pleats shown in the photos because I left the basting stitches in for now, just in case I was sending back for a little tweaking on length. Figured it transports better that way.

Thanks for the advice on length. Guess its time to take the basting out and wear it out and about!

I think it looks great. I have two black watch kilts. On my latest one you can only see the blue in certain light. That tartan leaves a ton of options for wear. If you're looking for a good deal on kilt belts, check Amerikilt. They have decent prices on the normal styled belts. I wear that one more than any other.

My personal opinion, to me it does look a little long. But over all looks great! have you taken out those basting stitches at the bottom of the pleats yet? Looks like you haven't in the pictures. Pleat shot!

    Looks good!

I think the length looks great, and were it me I would maybe wear it another half an inch higher. I wear my kilts high though.

IT'S TOO LONG! In your place I'd get it hemmed.

Congratulations, hope all goes well if you get it adjusted.

    Re: Casual Kilt Arrives!

Congratulations! Nice looking kilt. I have a couple of Burnett's & Struth casuals myself, and like them very much.

I suggest that before going to all the time and trouble to send the kilt back for adjustment, try wearing it a bit higher - high enough that you are happy with the length. I wear mine about 2" above the navel, and own a high-rise kilt that sits 4" above.

This should be doable unless the waist size of your Black Watch and buckle adjustments (and hip size) just won't allow it. In any case, good luck and enjoy your kilt.

Thanks for posting the pics. One with "unleashed" pleats would look even better.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

    Re: Casual Kilt Arrives!

I bought one of the Burnetts & Struth band kilts, because I really liked the tartan. When it arrived it was too long (my error). Brandon was very helpful when I had to send it back for alterations. I got the kilt back in time to wear it to Burns Nicht and it looked great. The turn around time was great. I have been a kiltie for over thirty years and I can say that my Burnetts and & Struth kilt is "top drawer!"

    Cheers,

    Re: Casual Kilt Arrives!

One thing I've found (just me!!) is that the first kilt I order from a kiltmaker is a bit off in measurements some way or another...waist or length. Even though we all use the same measuring tapes and follow the kiltmaker's measuring instructions (we think) something is too big or too small or too short or too long.

Once that first kilt is in we adjust the measurements for the second, third, et.al. kilts and we're right on after that.

But that's per kiltmaker. So, now you're set with B&S.

Just how it goes. Not your fault, not their fault.

Enjoy the next kilt(s) from them.
