why of course! it's so simple it nearly slipped right by us all - as true genious sometimes does...
The gentleman has quite creatively turned the side pouch pocket into a makeshift sporran!

Am thinking of how hard it must have been to snap the aprons together way over at the side. I will not assume enough intelligence to have snapped in front and rotated the UK.

Interesting; 'just posted in the kilt pin thread, 'saw more than a few instances of this "style of wearing" at the metro Chicago Festival & Games.
Perhaps he believes the double buckles go in front?
