Clan MacMillan tent at the North Alabama Scottish Festival

Earlier this year the Chief of Clan MacMillan authorized the use of swallow-tailed livery pennants by the various branches of the Clan MacMillan Society. Made by Caber Dancer, the pennants are 2ft x 6ft and display the chief's crest within a strap and buckle at the hoist, with the name of the branch on the fly. The clan pennants are in the livery colours of the chief, which represent the principle metal (gold) and colour (black) on the chief's arms. The chief's standard, which is gold, is approximately twice as long, and bears his personal badge at the hoist, with his territorial designation (Cnap) along the fly.

Flown from a lochaber axe, the pennant had its first outing in Alabama when Harold Cannon (seen here) proudly carried it in the parade of clans.

Not in the least mistaken, Kenneth. The banner was a gift from the Medvedevs when they were guests in my home during the International Genealogical and Heraldic Congress in 2000. The flag was done in Russia to Michael's design on a very light fabric and it literally "floats on a fart" to quote the late Dr. Patrick Barden. Michael's style was heavily influenced by the late Msgr. Bruno Heim, a great proponent of the 13th century style of heraldic art.
