No favorite color---I like them all (which explains my overflowing kilt socks drawer in the kilt closet). All depends on my tartan, my accoutrements, and my mood.

After about three years of thinking black and charcoal were the new rock and rock I have taken a liking to off white/cream......

Lovat blue and green are nice too with ancient colours and beige is good for weathered.

I like claret and lovat blue best these days. I'm sure that'll change.

Nice there! There's something wonderfully classic about red&white diced hose with a Black Watch kilt.

BTW note the thread going about "old school" hose. In The Highlanders of Scotland, the plain hose are all shades of grey (from pale to charcoal) or an odd neutral colour similar to what I would call "taupe". Not much variety then, except for some of the plain hose having contrasting cuffs in white, scarlet, or olive green.

We're much more colourful today, apparently.

Anyhow here's my Isle of Skye with claret, olive, and "thriced" hose (I don't change sporrans much, eh?)

Hey I just remembered that a while back I took photos of my IOS kilt with various hose for comparison purposes; here they are! Note how the blue hose makes the purple in the tartan "zing", likewise the claret hose liven up the brown; how the black hose allow the full palette to show (but without the "zing" of the claret or blue hose); and how dull-looking the kilt is when paired with the mid-grey hose, which tend to drain the colour out of most tartans

Wow, thanks for those comparison pics. It was perfect timing for me as I plan on ordering an Isle of Skye kilt in the next couple of weeks. Of all the pics I think I like the blue hose best. Where did you get that color blue? Also I have been looking at the hose from the tartan museum and I wonder how the bilberry would look with the IOS tartan.
I should say that I like the claret also.
