I wonder. What would happen if everyone stopped trying to be politically correct on these forums and said what they REALLY felt.
Al,
I think with the MSM fiasco in New York, a lot of us have given up the bullsh**t and started to speak our minds more. I will always try to state my point without offending anyone, but will not hold back my feelings and opinions to safe face with others. I respect everyone's right to the opinion and ability to share it, but I don't have to agree with it. Political correctness has ruined our ability to speak freely, and is probably the reason some of us are/were apprehensive about wearing our kilts in public.

no prob
Hey Al-
I was speaking generally in the above post. I hope you didnt take it as me addressing your antics personally! I love a little controversy at times too!
I can be rather opionated at times too. I just appreciate that this forum hasn't turned into any sort of bash fest.
Like I said, please feel free to post your opinions and feelings. As long as the language doesnt turn vile I won't interfere. (I may ask that some wording be changed though!)
Beannacht Dé,
Hank

Thats good to hear. On another forum I post on (about a computer game) the moderator is a 19 year old English guy who won't let us talk about politics or religion along with a no swearing rule.

The english language is rich and colorful enough without the four letter vernacular. A better selection of emoticons would be helpful at times in expressing some of those more primitive emotions.

I participated at the MSM event in New York,(I was the only Canadian there) aside from the press I had a good time. I talked with other kilt builders got some ideas, all in all it was a positive experience. I went down there to promote my product(Rkilts) I offered one for the raffle..the fellow who won it was the skater...hmmm...so...I'm not sure that kilt will be built as he has yet to claim his prize.
But this is not the forum for that(as everyone nods their head in agreement)
I like wearing kilts, I enjoy building them and of course want to sell them. The more folk that wear them the better. I think the best way we can promote ourselves is doing things like kilt nights pubcrawls, forums like this. The ability to voice an opinion, is a wonderful gift. By the same token if it's abused, who wants to listen, as some of us have expressed. I'm here for a good time, hopefully meet some of you in pewrson on my travels.
Happy kilting
Cheers
Robert

Flogging a dead horse, repeatedly
Is MSM DOA yet? It's like a bad relationship, but it is over. Everyone seems disgruntled by the media coverage. So that and 50 cent will get you a grammy. How long will those of us, (kilted men withOUT gender issues) continue to discuss men in women's skating outfits. They should have their own forum. OH wait! they already do. This is not their forum. So isn't MSM moot?
I drove 2 hours up and back to NYC for the MSM dinner only. I got to meet Frank Harlan form Utilikilts, and the great guys from Amerikilts, Rkilts, and MannerRock. I also got to meet photo darling denim skirt, tights and heels, and listen to skating boy have his 15 minutes of fa(ME) (he was alloted 5). Do kilts and skirts belong together? Let me brand this on a flogged dead horse in the middle of the street: NO.
If there is an MSM II, there should be a national Kilt-in night. In another city, just to make sure the message is clear: Go skirt around as much as you want, but I won't cover your backs, skating boy and Mr. high heels and tights. You have gender issues. I do not. Sometimes the truth hurts.
I like to wear kilts. I am comfortable with male gender roles, and dress the part, albeit in a non-conformist style.
So live and let live, but let the sheep graze among the sheep, the cows among the tutu wearing cows, and let the Rampant Lions run free.
And you may ask yourself, Well how did I get here?

Well said Erudite.
Or as we military types tend to say "HOOAH!"
Im so tired of being associated with/confused with cross-dressers I cant even put it into words anymore.
Men wear kilts to rugby matches & pub crawls, wierdo's parade around in skirts to intentionally draw atention to their deviance.
Nuff said.

Erudite,
I couldn't agree more. Here in Vancouver we already have a kilts night on the first Saturday of everymonth. Lance in Bozeman, Montana has already organized 3 nights out. The guys in Toronto (and surrounding areas) are organizing their first. I would like to see this as the platform from where we promote our kilts. Once more cities have a kilts night started, we should try to organize a joint cross continent kilt night. I believe that Robert from R kilts proposed a "Virtual Hamish Pub night" for MAy 1st. Robert can you share the details of your idea on this forum please?

Yes Colin I would be happy to.
It's a simple low tech idea. I proposed that on May 1st around the world we put on our kilts and party. Hamish always complains about the cost of travel and everyone asking him to join them. So the plan is that Hamish visits each group virtually...we cut and paste a photo of him at each one of the events around the world. At midnight we toast, to the kilted brethern. Forget the press... they can come if they are properly attired in a kilt. WE report into Tom's and give a tally of how many MUGs were in attendance. Hamish has virtually visited every event(he has a photo to prove it) Cost? The price of a beer, a cab fare you know the drill.. The goal is to see if we can have a million MUGs out that night. It could be a party of one, or a hundred. I dubbed the event, "The virtual Hamish global pub crawl"
I've got a pub crawl slated for Stratford, Ont. that night. It's the first Saturday of the month so no doubt Vancouver will be out. Tom of Toms Cafe said he will plan an event that night as well and so on and so on and so on.
That's it.
Cheers
Robert
