I'm a boxer man myself, I don't care if its a faux-pas (sp?) especially since thats all I have. I wore gym shorts under it at a concert where the bouncers had to pat us down on the inside of our thighs.

So you've spent $$$ buying a kilt, sporran, belt, socks etc, but won't spend a couple of bucks on appropriate underwear? And they say we Scots are mean!!

Perfering regemental I have found that on those days when Kanasas doesn't stop the wind from 'up north' my choice is black cotton knit boxers. 3 pair in a bag for under $10.00 at Walmart. Black seems to go with almost anything and they don't ride up and still have a boxer feel but don't 'flap around' like regular boxers. They also look a little like bike shorts at a fast glance.

Oh the hell with it, I'm going regimental.... or maybe just regi-MENTAL.
Actually a pair of Black Watch tartan (gasp)boxers saved my dignity in a crowded pub last St. Paddy's day when an overly "enthusiastic" young lady decided to answer the eternal question with no warning! All I felt was the back of my SportKilt going up
She did compliment me on the boxers though!

    long johns

I don't know if this is improper, but when the cold north wind begins to blow, my kids and I opt for long johns. I know they're easily visible and all that, but extreme weather calls for extreme action.

I'm 15 and I just have a bear kilt that my mom bought and since I have to wear pants at school I'm not gonna buy more underwear for the occasions when I do wear my kilt.

Quite right - get your mom to buy them since she bought your kilt!

    Kilt Checks

I'm with Dakotan. I got seriously kilt checked by a Welsh chick in SF. She stretched to reach across a table and lift from behind, just as I walked in and was surveying the scene. "Just what I'd expect from a yank, black boxer-briefs." "Well if it weren't for the likes of you, a man could go regimental and enjoy a pint AND his privacy." I replied. The conversation got better from there, but she wouldn't stay around for a private viewing at a later time.
And you may ask yourself, Well how did I get here?

Great avatar. Is that a drawing of you? Any story behind it?
