Well, Anne, I do have a black leather water bottle belt holster that I'd like to try copying, in brown leather. But that requires a trip to the Tandy Leather shop, which could prove to be another monetary black hole. LOL

Well, in correspondence with Stewart @ Scotweb this morning, he told me that he and Nick had been down to D.C. Dalgliesh this week, and...

"I noticed down at DC Dalgliesh that the kiltmaker (Helen) was nearly finished a Buchanan kilt. More to the point, it was YOUR kilt. Won't be long now."

He was referring to my 8yd hand-sewn Buchanan Reproduction (one of the two kilts from the earlier order.) I was doing ok (not really feeling the jones) until I read that! And now... Aaahhhhh!!! LOL

Ken, I can only imagine knowing your kilt is almost done is going to drive you nuts.. Charles has been bugging me to message about his to find out the status - I refused to do so.. I'm afraid if Matt does give us a time frame then I'll never hear the end of it with Charles.. LOL It was made worse with the fact that he ordered his telescope at the same time as the kilt - both were suppose to have roughly the same wait time as the scope was supposively on backorder.. But somehow, the telescope shipped immediately and he received it within the week.. Now he's expecting the kilt to do the same.. LOL

I just received a photo of Helen (kiltmaker at D.C. Dalgiesh) finishing up one of my kilts... this one, the Buchanan Clan in Reproduction Colors.

Ken, that reproduction Buchanan is really very nice in the earth tones. It's garment posts like this that keep my cravings high and my bank balance low. The swatch posts don't have the impact here of the whole garment look. Even the back side of the fabric on Helens lap got my juices going. No hope here!

Pants is only a present tense verb here. I once panted, but it's all cool now.

The photo did two things for me. First, it put a huge grin on my face. Second, it humanized the making of my kilt... a feeling I don't quite get with anything "machine made".

+2 It's one of my attractions to Rocky's operation, My casuals may use a machine to sew but the whole kilt is done by a talented craftsman who has a real name and I know something about. Not cookie cuttered and cranked out of a sweat shop by the hundereds - 8 sizes fits all.

I just happened to check the status of my outstanding orders at Scotweb, and the bulk of the first order is being packed for shipment! This order included the first two kilts (the Reproduction in the photo above, and a Buchanan Hunting Ancient), a brown daywear sporran, and other sundries. They only items not yet ready are some cufflinks being made from scraps from the kilt weaves. The kilts are coming TWO MONTHS EARLIER than expected! WooHoo! What a great Easter surprise!

I'll be able to try out one of them next Saturday, when I see Celtic Woman in concert.
