Last weekend, I found a nice Rob Roy style sporran in brown. Wore it with my black shoes this weekend. It doesn't appear that the world ended.
I've found that most relationships work best when no one wears pants.

Started out wearing black all the time because that is what I had, then got a brown sporran and started wearing my regular casual brown shoes with the kilt, and bought a casual but wide brown belt, then some inexpensive brown ghillie brogues and later some regular brown wingtips. For daywear now I am about 60:40 brown black either casual or dressy daywear, while for eveningwear I still tend toward black for all but the most casual of events.

Brown? Did somebody say brown?
I'm solidly in the brown camp - for daywear, anyway. I'll occasionally do black, or even mix-n-match brown and black. But I find myself just naturally grabbing the brown belt, sporran, and shoes most of the time. I even had brown straps put on my new kilt with brass buckles, just because I love that colour combination.
Both ShaunMaxwell and I are wearing brown sporrans and shoes here. Great minds think alike.

I too am extremely fond of brown leather accessories with the kilt, especially for day wear. However, I always wear polished, bleak leather brogues (not the Ghillie variety) with plain laces. Not completely sure if I'll ever get around to wearing brown leather shoes with the kilt, just not my cup of tea, but I do like the look. I suppose I'm a staunch supporter of traditonal black leather footwear with the kilt. Obviously inspired by the Scottish Regimental tradition.

I too have recently gone with the brown leather sporran, straps and shoes. I think it looks better than black with most of my kilts.

Pants is only a present tense verb here. I once panted, but it's all cool now.

I like the look, but only have 2 sporrans: Day and Dress. To get brown leather stuff would be nice, but I have what I need in that area and would prefer to spend my money elsewhere. But after reading this, I was doing some looking into a new brown leather sporran...
