Surely you jest, sir?!
Father Bill:
I read your last post. ZING!

Ron:
Forgive my ignorance but what is an underklt? Is it like a 'slip' for kilts?

Actually, I am not.

I re-read it.
"Sir, would you like a side of tartan bloomers with your order?"

How about that.

Yes, Jock gives the impression that they were a "side order" whereas they were standard issue. i.e. TCHD and TMHD!

I hope it's not wool tartan underwear you are talking about!
Anyway, when sitting kilted, I'm generally sitting on my kilt; therefore I'm more interested in protecting my kilt. Most pub stools, I'm sure, would only have had pants on them anyway. Though many kilt wearers don't see it this way, I would rather have a buffer zone, if you will, between me and my kilt to protect it from... stuff like sweat, drippies, etc. ... you know what I mean.
Generally, what's under the kilt is not seen so, who cares if what's under there matches or not unless, of course, your doing the Hamish or your giving the lassies a show.

And, for the OP, they didn't always match as the years went by and you had more than one kilt.

Sorry if this drags us off topic a little ...but .... I agree with Nile on this one and want to keep my kilt clean. There have been posts around here about rental kilts that the companies throw out because they come back in a disgusting mess. I recall a couple of years ago the Tartan Authority made a statement that wearing something under your kilt is not the cardinal sin. In an interview, the gentleman from the TA commented that one should not be scaring women and little children with what's under your kilt. Somewhere at some point I saw advertised "Command pads" that could be zipped into your kilt to protect it... but I can't find what seller had them and don't know how well they would work; although it would be great to hear from any X-Markers who might have tried them.
