I would expect no less from Austral-Tasmanian Kilt Advocate General Designate! Kilt on my man

Indeed that would be wonderful to do and some of us have made it to that point, but it's not for everyone.
    Thanks Graham,

To be honest, I have never wanted to wear my kilt full time. I was never a supporter of the anti trouser/pants brigade. I choose clothes fitting for the occasion. Sometimes that's my kilt. Other times it's not.

Don't get me wrong, it's my favourite item in my limited wardrobe. I love wearing it.

    Thanks Bubba,

You can't afford to let your heart rule your head. I know when I can wear my kilt and when I shouldn't - even though I may want to.

I'm always happier when I'm out of the town, unless I'm going to a specific function. As I've always said - I don't want to wear a kilt whilst shopping at ASDA (that's Walmart to most of you). My choice.

I wear kilts pretty much full time, but there are always reasons and occasions where it's not appropriate or practical. Reality has a nasty way of making itself felt

    Wise choice

Very wise Al, some people (read toerags) will use it against you if they can, and in your position you can't afford any undermining of your authority, however misguided.
Having said that on to what matters, what I really want to know is have you decided whether you're getting the Rugby Union Tartan or not
You lot'll get me liking tartan yet

Hi Al. I dully understand your view. When I fgirst wore a kilt some years ago, it was only in Scotland, and I would pull of the main road at the border near Hawick, and put trousers back on.

Then I origressed to wearing it all the way back home. Then I starting wearing it to the dancing class on a Wednesday, and going from there to the pub. Now I wear it to the pub every weekend, to Safeway shopping, to the offic eon Christms Eve etc.

Never had bad word, even from the rough types in the pub.

Go for it, Al. I'll bet you are surprised ( and delighted) at the response.

It's looking good. But it will be a few weeks now before I'm back in Edinburgh. I don't trust myself to do it by mail order.

Give in to the tartan, Rhino. You know you want to!!

I think I'm following a similar pattern. Gradually creeping forwards, inch by inch. I've only had my kilt for a year and have worn it much more than I expected.

Wearing it for SCD seems the most natural thing in the world to do. Why change out of it to go to the pub. Even better if others do likewise.

Best just to jump in with both feet, Al.
That way you get all the anxiety out of the way quickly, instead of dragging it out for a year.
I worked for me. I took a good bit of ribbing at the lumber yard where I work part-time but I usually give better than I get and that tapered off quickly. Now it's just the occasional bonehead that thinks he's clever that I have to set straight.
Almost all the comments are positive. I also get honked at with a cheery thumbs up several times a day. Vancouver has a lot of Celts.
