okiwen IS smiling! That's as good as it gets.

Ian, I am so sad that the Brumbies didn't perform well until the end. I'll have to get their schedule together and watch regularly. The game cricket on the otherhand, is beyond me.

I had a very enjoyable time and was pleased to make friends and spend time with people that were quite funny. Oh, and I got to sew a kilt too.

My bags were lost and remained in Chicago on my way home I was bumped from two flights due to weather and finally made it home on Saturday morning. My bags however, arrived at about 9:30 at night on Saturday. Lucky me, the kilts were all still inside.

Can't wait until next time. Thinking about a saffron perhaps.

Okiwen, that was the final of the 2013 season. The 2014 season will kick off in late January. Thankfully, the Superbowl doesn't happen until it's Monday morning in my viewing zone, so I never have to make a choice on that weekend.
On the kilt-making front, no, I haven't touched either kilt since leaving Hamo. I will see how many stitches I can put in on the 747s back to Sydney. Hope I get the exit row seat. I found a Walmart near a fuel stop in Virginia and got some useful pieces of sewing kit to go onto the plane with in the hand-made sporran.
I called into Cherokee NC late this arvo, and came away with some Native American pieces that might work as kilt pins, and one as a brooch for My Good Lady.
Gee I like my RKilt. At this rate I might wear it out before I get home!

That's a smile? Wow....must be the "I am Border Patrol and Always Very Serious" smile..... I was suggesting to The Wizard that a Kilt Retreat on Vancouver Island might be nice.... Find a good venue, bring XMarkers who have already attended at least one Kilt Kamp together -- traditional or contemporary -- and put them all together in a big room with their own projects....good company, congenial kiltmaking support, maybe some of Mrs KiltedWolfman's baking........

I am hoping that others who attended kilt kamp will post some photos. I did not have my camera at the kilt night and would truly like to see the traveling quaich start its second journey.

I arrived at Hamilton College on Friday the 26th. We first met at Barb's house where we were given our room keys and then shared some time with those who had already arrived.
The next morning I took a short tour of the campus.
    Here is our dorm.

On campus is the birthplace of Eliza Root (1847-1937, US Secretary of War 1899-1904, US Secretary of State 1905-09, US Senator 1909-15, Nobel Peace Prize 1912 )

The Taylor Science Center was to be our home for the next five days.

And we would take some of our meals in the Commons Dining Hall, a renovated chapel.

Saturday morning we piled onto our cars and headed out to Irish Fest in Uttica. A beautiful day and we got to see some pretty good pipe bands.

Here are the Mohawk Valley Frasers taking the field. (Recognize anyone?)

Sunday morning we all gathered in Barb T's classroom and Kilt Kamp was underway.

Barb Started out with a powerpoint presentation

We then broke into two classes. Barb's Traditional Class in her classroom (Where all the food and coffee were)
And I took the Contemporary kiltmakers down the hall.

I begin my class with an intro into the types of kilts and some of the tools that are handy when making contemporary kilts.

Of course those in Barb's class require a few less.

If you have ever wanted to try your hand at making a kilt spending five days under the tutelage of Barb Tewksbury is a fine way to do so.

Just be prepared to take lots of notes. It comes at you fast and very confusing at first

    .

You have to learn how to measure.

    Take some notes.

How to put some shape into a flat piece of fabric

    .

    Take some more notes.

And eventually it starts to make enough sense that you can jump in and begin.

I am IN for anything that involves Mrs. Kiltedwolfman's cooking. I'm there.
