Bonnie, that is a beautiful tartan; the red/orange is very dominate so the person wearing it would certainly be noticed. Very Autumn like colors but not really pumpkin'y. I agree with Kennedy, the tartan looks like it's in the ancient and not the modern colors. Now, if the kilt glowed in the dark then I'd say it was too orange.

Simon Fraser fought as MacShimidh, a Highland chief… wrapped and belted in a plaid over the top of his linen shirt, like his ordinary kinsmen. He put a bonnet on his head, and stuck the Fraser emblem, a sprig of yew, in it. With the battle cry, A'Chaisteal Dhunaidh and the scream of the pipes, they charged to battle. I have a kilt in MacDonnell of Keppoch in ancient colours. I think the ancient red (orange) is great.

Yes, I think it is too orange. But that is not a bad thing. As it happens, I think that red matches that green exceedingly well. That being said a Christmas red would also match a Christmas green equally well. There was a time when that was the red in the pallet. We cannot look at single colours in isolation, but rather how each one compliments or contrasts all the other colours. It is what makes some tartans great and others just so-so.

It's not too orange for the autumn season. I have a kilt in the Kerr red-and-green tartan, and tend to wear it only around Christmas, but I'm too particular anyway. Wear it without reservation!

Being a UConn fan, any orange is too orange in my eyes. (reference Tennessee and Syracuse, with apologies to our friends outside the USA who probably are unaware. Think Rangers FB seeing green.)

If the primary color in the kilt is orange, that is the way it was designed. I am not sure what "too orange" means. That is just a personal judgment.

There's no such thing as "too orange".

See what I mean.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

Bonnie - Some say Orange is the color of joy and creativity. Orange promotes a sense of general wellness and emotional energy that should be shared, such as compassion, passion, and warmth. Orange will help a person recover from disappointments, a wounded heart, or a blow to one’s pride.
Happy Halloween!
