Buchanan bespoke shoes

I think that they are more suited to "cutting a dash" in saxon dress than in Highland Dress. They are neither suitable for Highland Daywear nor Highland Evening wear. To me they would just seem a bit "out of place".

I don't know... since we have lots of "matchy matchy" type people on Xmarks (I'll include myself in that group to a degree), I could see someone wanting a pair in tweed to match a tweed jacket / vest. Would it be 'traditional'? No, but I can see the appeal. At $500 (£300), I'd likely take a pass though. I could have another kilt or another jacket / vest for that price.

How do you polish them without getting polish all over the tweed?

Maybe put masking tape over the tweedy bits and / or polish them VERY carefully. Agreed that it would be a challenge.

I do like the shoes very stylish although I would opt for a tweed rather than a tartan. I would also wear them with Saxon dress not a kilt. Would I pay £300 for shoes? Umm.....no, as Rocky says that's a new kilt or jacket! Or custom sporran.

I dig 'em. Wouldn't mind having a tweed pair AND a Buchanan tartan pair.

But I'm even more interested in them scanning my feet and making me a last..then I could make whatever silly thing popped into my head at will.

but unless they come to Florida I doubt I'll get to try it. I just asked my wife if I could fly to Scotland and get measured for and buy a 500 dollar pair of shoes and the woman laughed at me! Right out loud! The noive of her.

I wonder if I'd get a discount what with being in the Buchanan clan and all...maybe throw in a pair of socks or something..

I have some SUEDE and tweed shoes that are similar, if slightly more casual. I'd never wear either mine nor the Buchanans with a kilt, but as BCAC said, they're nice for a bit of dash with trousers.

Suede is nice, as you don't polish it, just a light brushing. I'd live in fear of getting polish all over the fabric.
