Way to go, Graham! There's a prime example of an alpha-male feeling threatened and compensating by trying to re-gain the high ground with his mouth. I received a few choice comments myself last week at the trade show so I know what its like. Yagotta be quick with the come-backs to effectively squelch the assault in your favour. I guess when you put yourself on center stage, you gotta expect the occasional hoot. Is it worth it??? 8)

Yes Blu, you know it's worth it. I'm just head ing off to the place now, but I shall be wearing shorts because I'm working there in a dirty workshop. Yesterday they called me off a walk along the beach with my wife to come in, so I figured I was on my own time and they could like the kilt or lump it.
(they lumped it) I just know that secretly, all the lads there wish they could wear a kilt.

Graham, does that mean they are closet kilters? LOL!

I also noticed the rather blunt honesty of Australians when I went visiting a few years ago. It seems that they don't really mean to be insulting. They simply just say what they think and leave it at that. Generally, I noticed that the closer I became acquainted with someone, the ruder his/her comments turned out to be, as if they were less afraid to say what they really thought. If you ask an Aussie what he thinks, be prepared for just about anything.

I know what you mean...same happened with me and a teaching colleague from New Zealand, once he got to know people, he was just down right rude...big difference between being RUDE and being HONEST with someone though...thin line some people can't differenciate between.

Susan, don't be confused between Kiwis and Aussies, they are a very different breed
