I was brought up on a lot of the old sayings, but strangely enough the day turned out a nice sunny day - well around these parts it did

I think that there was bad weather in the North - quite a few people have been without power for several days across Scotland, so maybe the storm went around you - when I lived in Portsmouth I often saw evidence of the weather being bad further North, on the other side of Portsdown hill, and here in Poole the Purbecks often deflect bad weather.
A few years ago now there was a photo taken from a satellite of the whole country looking like an iced biscuit, except for the tiny brown bit which was around Poole. It was almost embarrassing, with everyone else struggling in heavy snow and we were just going on as normal - except that supplies ran low as the lorries could not get through to restock the supermarkets.

Never been to Wales, but it looks beautiful! Thanks, Derek.
