OC Richard, That photo of you is outstanding. It's a great example of how highland dress is worn and your turn-out is spot-on.
Cheers, Mark

Brilliant! I've been inspired by some of the veterans here on XMTS, and I will have to look into the House of Labhran.
Cheers, Mark

I purchased a Robert Mackie balmoral a couple of years ago, and it has only gotten better with age. As with your balmoral, mine has been rained on and worn until dry many times. It took a while for it to mellow out and take the shape that I wanted without "Jocking" it, but the rain coupled with daily wearing of my balmoral did the trick.

Thanks!
That's my go-to grab-stuff-from-the-closet outfit, it doesn't vary much. I wore it yesterday playing at a funeral, I'll wear it today playing at a golf course, I'll be wearing it all day this Thursday (St Patrick's Day).
Main difference is, I don't wear glasses any more. New lenses in both eyes.

I don't know if they all are, but the tan with green dicing Balmoral I purchased from House of Labhran, is a Robert Mackie.

I had my suspicions when they said their balmorals had been made in Scotland since 1845, exactly the same as Robert Mackie, but I didn't see the name anywhere on their site. Even better

Balmoral
Tweedhead: I had a look at the House of Labhran website and was wondering about the very thing you mentioned. Regardless, Robert Mackie crafts an outstanding piece of kit. I'm already thinking of getting a second balmoral from them!
Cheers, Mark

Yes, but I live in AZ
The rules that apply for the rest of the country, won't work, here in the Arizona desert. This applies to such things as growing a nice lawn, and for the wearing of hats. I have a lined wool flatcap, that I rarely wear. It has to be downright cold (freezing and below), before I put that one on. I would like to buy a tam, or balmoral, but I don't want a wool one. Any suggestions? Is there such a thing?
