The community I live in has a big parade and they close off about a mile of the main street for street vendors, car show, music, etc. I have worn my American Heritage tartan PV kilt for past few years. Unfortunately this year the weather is forecast to be rain and storms. That just messes up the entire party. So I suspect I will be spending the 4th wearing a kilt at home.

I will be kilted for the Cherry Day's 4th of July parade in North Ogden, Utah, USA. A group of us, including my son who will be in a McDonald tartan kilt, will be gathering at Shawn's house where Shawn will play his bag pipes as the color guard marches by. And I plan on being kilted for the rest of the day, including the fireworks show in the evening. Should be Grand, indeed!!!

Our pipe band is marching in a 4th of July parade.
Can't recall marching in one of those... if so it will be my first kilted 4th of July.
Other than playing the pipes, I couldn't imagine myself being kilted on that day.

Considering how may Scots were involved in the activities of the original 4th of July, I feel the kilt is completely appropriate for wear on this holiday, and I will do so.

As Mr. Spock says, "Fascinating!" You celebrate your county's independence from being a colony of Great Britain by selecting a garment so uniquely British in origin. I suppose that's what gives you such a strong sense of independent original thinking?
Have a great day, y'all !

Unfortunately on the anniversary of our independence I'll be on my back changing plumbing fixtures in the house and a kilt would be most inappropriate. After that I have to work the night shift and my job in the maintenance department precludes the wearing of a kilt. Otherwise I would be proudly wearing my USMC tartan kilt. Hopefully I can get a waiver on 10 November.

Fully intended to kilt up as usual for our small town's big 4th of July parade and gig in the city park after...but overslept and woke up just in time to make the parade without kilting up.
So watching the parade one of the Boy Scout leaders marching with his Scouts was kilted!! Took some pictures....but was a new camera and when I got it home I'd screwed up and missed almost all of my parade pictures including the kilt shots.
I did meet the gent in the park and we chatted a while. He knew me apparently and remarked that I wasn't kilted. He knows the proud history of Boy Scouts and kilts and said he was hoping more Scouts and leaders would kilt up....in our little town....amazing how common sense spreads to the boonies too.
Well, some common sense...he was wearing thick wool kilt hose on a 100+ degree day....
