I'd like to add that since I joined in May I have met no one of you in person. No big suprise there

Having said that I've found people on this forum to be the kind of people that I'd love to share a pint or coffee with.

I live in Norway. I work in a Norwegian enviroment and am a Foreigner how ever I look at it .I get comments all day everyday. You lads on this forum are at times a little oasis of the English speaking world I've got access to. Thats why I post so much. I don't get out much here so I use the forum as my safety valve the somthing that keeps me sane.

The people I share my inmosts with I PM and they PM me back. The system works and I for one like it that way. So feel free to PM me thats how friendships are formed by trust and a common ground.

I also understand your suggestion Bear, but nothing doing, no examples. Ostracism is a horrible thing.

I guess I am basically interested in just having members only, I am no so much concerned with keeping any of you out but neither am I interested in putting my life on a billboard on interstate 75. I guess thats what we are doing here so perhaps all of you are right. This is not a good Idea.

PMs are too cumbersome and so is email to include several people. If there is an area already limited to members only then that will suffice. I think the Email suggestion won't work, I want several or all to beable to se each others responses as they do. Just limited to members.

Graham your situation was a tough one, but we all have different issues and comfort levels of what to share and where.

I will take it elsewhere or bear it alone if I cannot figure something out. It wont be yahoo for sure, that is why I asked you all if you would be interested in a private board not to replace hanks. A board I would create using the same software.

Non members can't even see the personal galleries. So why not have messages at least that private?

Note added -- I just found out the Off topic area is Members only- Goodness hank, if you just would have told me that when you sent the PM we could have avoided "some" of this fuss.

I know that several of the topics here are only limited to members, for example this one on Comments and Suggestions.

And there is the OT (Off Topic) section that is members only.

Glad to have you on the board, and looking forward to interesting kilt discussions. Try not to take things personally on the forum, because it's easy to get the wrong impression, and the forum won't be as fun for you

You're not giving enough info for the rest of us to make an informed decision but that's your call and I can respect it.
It does leave me in doubt as to whether we need a more private area. With the info I have now, I can't see why any kilt related topic would be so private.
As for other topics, for example religion or politics, I agree with Hank that they are best dealt with somewhere other than a kilt forum.
If your issues are serious enough that you think you'd be ostracised by the guys on this forum, then I suggest you start your own forum, as you stated in your first post.

Sorry you feel insulted but I told you in PM I wasnt going to make a private area like that. I am sorry that you are dealing with issues but I dont think making a private area just for issues is anything I want to do. I think that you may have your feelings on your shoulders b/c of the issues you are dealing with so dont take this message too harshly. I would suggest finding a good counselor, a group therapy, or a church that will help you with those issues on a more personal level. This is a community of kilt wearers but it isnt a persoanl thearpy group. Some thearpy may take place here but that is all on a public level such as with Graham's daughter. I feel that if this community doesnt help you the way you want it to that you find a community that is already setup to meet your needs. Thanks for your understanding.
