I've never done Steampunk, the closest I've come is my Black Watch KD uniform, here at LA Anime Expo. (All I need, I guess, is to throw some goggles on that pith helmet!)
Oddly, people kept asking "are you the guy from Jumanji?" I had to look it up to see what they were talking about.

I was thinking you looked like the Grandpa from Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang, though he wore nickers.

Goggles or not, I think you look fantastic in that picture! Nicely done!

Thanks!
I should have worn my round glasses, in vintage metal frames like those worn by British troops in both World Wars. But for some reason I wore my modern glasses. (Happily I don't need glasses any more and I look more "legit" in historical uniforms.)

This is one amazing outfit! The steampunk community really does need more kilt wearers ;)

The Steampunk conventions I have attended the number of kilts increase every year. Not a lot of them but they are increasing in numbers. Even one of the vendors had kilts for sale.
Always enjoy seeing kilts incorporated into Steampunk. Good job putting yours together.

What I usually see amongst Steampunk kilt outfits here are Utilikilts, a bizarre anachronism.
It's strange how quickly you began to see Utilikilts at the Ren Faires, too.
You're doing it right, keeping your Highland Dress in line with the Steampunk Victorian ethos.
