JohnAllen wasn't kidding. Ten welcomes in a few hours. That makes me feel right at home. I will be a regular contributor, but not every day.
In general, I have worn the kilt at all manner of public functions, wherever and whenever I please. I quit taking notice of negative reactions back in the Johnson Administration. But in all that time I doubt if there have been more that a handfull who had anything to say to me other than the usual lame, "whats underneath?"
My wife is from Stevenson, Ayrshire, so she is the real thing (and the real deal as well). I actually prefer her tartan, Marshall, to any of mine, those being MacGregor (too much like a Christmas tree) though I still have and wear a MacGregor kilt I bought in 1971, MacAlpin (similar), and Stuart (which I like, especially Black Stuart).
I have tried the 'modern' kilts, and although I like the idea I must say that with one exception my shopping experiences have been less than ideal. I won't name those I am displeased with, but I will say that Jerry at StillwaterKilts did indeed (as someone else here has said) write the book on customer service.
More later.
