I watched it a few years ago with my mom when she got into it. Like others here, near the end it started feeling very desperate and getting too ridiculous. (Don't want to create spoilers unless other people are okay with it, but wouldn't mind discussing it.)

My wife told me that WETA UK in the U.S. will be re-airing the entire series in a few weeks. Sorry that's all I know. As far as it getting strange, yes I have to agree. Seemed good up to series 6 and now its getting little strange. I will be a better judge once I see all the episodes. Cheers all.

MotG is a favourite of ours. It is true that it lost something in the later seasons but still enjoyable to watch. This one and As Time Goes By with Judi Dench and Geoffrey Palmer, albeit British, are staples for us.

I watched the entire series on Netflix, except for the last season, which I found on YouTube.

    *** Semi Spoiler Alert ***

I found the series totally awesome right up until they killed one of the main characters. From then on, it went downhill into ridiculousness.

I know the character you mean and you're right. I did keep watching until the end, though.
