I was actually cruising through their "sale" kilts yesterday when I found a 16 oz. handsewn Maple Leaf that's my size for $350 CAD. That's some serious bang for the buck! I'm glad to see I wasn't the only one cruising through their pages.

Casey - Thanks for the tip that they'll do alterations. The dimensions are perfect except it is 3 inches too long. That's way too long! I'll have to check with them and see if they can do anything about that. I'll be missing out on one heck of a deal if they can't.

Don't forget that traditional kilts are not "hipsters" they are designed to be worn much higher up over the waist than blue jeans! Don't mistakenly chop up a perfectly good kilt unless you're sure

    Rufus,

I had the same problem with the one I ordered. I think that they are clearing their long rental kilts as no one rents them. Good for us. Hardly worn.

I'm sure. I'm 5'11, and I checked my lenth. I need 21" with the 2" rise for a total of 23". The length of the kilt is 24" with a 2 1'2" rise. The original length is too long, even without the rise factored in. :o

Jimmy - I checked with Burnett and Struth's and they said that they could hem the kilt to the right length. Is this a good idea, or is this going to mess the swing of the kilt all up? Will the sewing down of the pleats be too low, since the kilt is longer than what I need? I don't want the sewed onto the hips pleat line to extend down past my butt.

What are you doing about the extra length?

I'm really glad to hear that the kilt's tailoring is great. I can't wait to get my kilt and jacket now!
