Hey Richard, go buy one and let me know.
I'm still in awe of the 38 pleats! That alone can speak for the pleat depth since the pattern is broad! I like the wider waistband for comfort!
What I forgot to ask was this:
Colin... the wider waistband with the AWESOME pleating has me a little confused. Is this supposed to be worn high like a "Traditional", or is it designed to look like that and be worn on the hips like a "Formal"?
If it's the latter... I'm ALL OVER THIS PURCHASE!!!
Jimmy, when David took my measurements, we measured at the naval not on the hips. The kilt is meant to be worn higher up. I have just uploaded some photos I took on the weekend for your referal. Please excuse the fact that it is not ironed or on, as I was just getting ready to do both.
I had the opportunity to wear the kilt for most of Sunday for Thansgiving. It was a big hit, and the kilt was wonderful. It has the feel of a formal kilt, but is so light weight. Very nice to wear.
As for the buckle under the belt, I meant the belt adjustment for the belt sizing. http://canadakilt.com/BELTANDBUCKLE.html

Picked up my Balmoral from David yesterday. I managed to get it for $35, while the local shop is selling them for around $90. Very good quality and made to measure as well. Again the service received from David McDonald at Canada Kilt was outstanding.
Not sure how often I will wear a Balmoral, but I have one, so I have another option for head wear.

Colin, I have a feeling that the last pleat will infact be reversed in future kilts.
Now for the BIGGEST question on these kilts:
Is the front apron wide?
Is it fringed on the right edge?
Is it TAPERED (wide at bottom / narrow at top)?
Does it hang without "curling-out" at the bottom tips?
Thanks for all the responses!

Jimmy,
the front apron is indeed quite wide. There is a fringe on the right side, and I do believe the apron is tapered. The apron does not seem to curl out at the bottom. I have only worn the kilt once and that was for a short period of time. I will try and get some pictures of me wearing the kilt so that you can see how it looks while on.
David does actually have a very wide variety of accessories as well including sgain dubh, clan badges, balmorals and glengarrys, flashes(?), clan crest rings, as well as 4 tartans that are all not on his site yet.
It's my pleasure to provide the responses, as I seem to be the first on the forum with one of these kilts. I just hope that this gives people a chance to add another choice when it comes to inexpensive kiltmakers.

Jimmy,
I have added two pictures of me in my Canada Kilt. You will notice that the front is quite wide, but that it does not have much of a taper.
The material is quite warm, yet really light weight. The pleats are deep, but do not hang as well as some heavier materials such as wool or even Poly/Viscose. Still a good made to measure kilt for the cost and the time to deliver.

Colin,
I do like the looks of it. I wouldn't mind an update after you have worn it awhile.
