Lewis kilt hose

I too have this issue with a couple of Lewis kilt hose. I'm over 6'2" and they are still quite long as they come . I pull them up as high as I can get them, attach the flashes or garterties and roll the cuff over the ties to an appropriate length and double the cuff back up so the knitted end covers the fold and the cable pattern is displayed as it should be.
They will be a little thicker over the calves but will look great.

When I corresponded with someone from House of Cheviot, I was told that their kilt hose are made to the same length as their shooting socks. As I understand it, shooting socks are meant to be worn much higher than kilt hose are, so I would guess quite a lot of us have an issue with their kilt hose being too long.

Their shooting socks are longer. Not sure what the individual was thinking. I have both Lewis kilt hose and Rannoch shooting socks. The Rannochs are longer. I have an account with them and deal with the quite often. The shooting socks are definitely a bit longer.

I don't own any Lewis Hose, but I do have several pair with patterned cuffs, ranging from argyle to chessboard and more. They are all equally long, requiring an extra middle fold, and I am not a particularly small or short man. In fact, when I purchased directly from HoC, I specifically asked about the extra length because my previously owned pair was by far the longest leg length of my hose. This is what prompted the answer that the kilt hose and shooting hose are made to the same length.

Take a photo with a tape measure so I can see the actually leg length of both the pair that fit well and the pair that are too long.
If I have to, I'll open packages until I find a pair that are a good length and send them.
Check your email... I have responded.
Cheers,

Got the email. It may take a day or two as I have many pairs of hose to unwrap and measure.

Being of rather short stature with short but large legs and feet, kilt hose (and sleeves and trouser legs) are normally too long and frequently way too long. Rather than trying to alter the kilt hose, like I would sleeves and trouser legs, I put my hose garter where I want the turn down to be, then I take the hose top at about the 1/3 point and pull it down and then turn down the hose top on top of the pulled down part. By doing that I get the turn down to look right and I have a nice thick turn area, after all it is now a total of four layers thick counting the original hose layer plus three layers of turn down. Works like a champ and, I think, looks good.

I'd go with the double fold on the turndown if they're too long.
Maybe machine washing to shrink them slightly might also help?

I figured it out...
Well, Lads:
I spent a bit of time horsing around with these "too long" hose and... I have figured out a nice way to fold these guys so that the cable pattern is on the outside of the roll where it belongs. And, they aren't topped out at the middle of my thigh...
One of the women at church this morning said, "I love your sox!"
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! I'm gonna keep 'em.

I too am 6'2", but with Harris hose and I have to double them under. I am using garter ties, too, which might have a bit to do with it. But nevertheless, it's how I work around them being a bit long. In fact, I've seen a YouTube video somewhere, showing this is how they are to be work, folded over once then tucked under the fold.
