    Well the guy that took my picture at the front door and called me to say "nice skirt" is still at it.

    He posted the pic online for everyone to see.

    John: Done, sir. Most of the other people in that discussion thread are my coworkers. Aaron, the fellow that started this, has never seen me kilted before. The other fellows have been out with me socially and are more accustomed to it.

    I for one agree with James on this matter.

    It seems to me being defensive or offensive in reply to a "nice skirt" comment, would only serve to;

    a. Offend those who don't know better

    b. Fule the fire for those that are being flip.

    Regardless of how the comment is made (other then from friends) I thank them. I may or may not correct them as to the garment being a kilt. As for digs from co-worker I simply tell them "I don't own a skirt" and leave it at that.

    When my friends make that comment...

    Take all comment as they are intended... If a "Nice Skirt" comment is given and you feel it is a compliment then take it as one. Now if it is said to egg you on or as an insult then I suggest you call apon the spirit of past kilted members and in a world wind of tartan, sporran and kilt pin shower down on the fool with a fury seldom seen and make that Sucker pay the ultimate price!

    That last part is a joke Hee Hee Haa Haa!

    We all have plenty of witty responces for the fools of the world.

    I try to treat all comments (not that there are many thesedays!) in like manner - with a smile and a pleasant, polite "Thank you" acknowledgement. If the comment was intended as a compliment, then the other party will be content with the response. If it was made with mischief or malice, the smile and acknowledgement utterly takes the wind from the other guy's sails because I've not risen to the bait.

    I just ignore people, unless it is an actual face to face comment. Most people are just curious, and really want to know, so they get the smile and the many questions asked get answered with a lot of fun and frivolity attached. Just make it a ton of fun and people will not take offense. I really do not get defensive if they ask questions, and you can tell it they are sincere.

    BTW Magnus, great picture, you look like you are ready to take on the day, all happy and comfortable, good way to start the week!
