    Homeschooled kids can do anything!!!

I'm biased, we homeschooled our five billy-lids, I do believe that they do come out more independent than others as a general rule.

It's never what kilt you wear, but how you wear your kilt.

Strut. Stand tall. Don't stare down at your feet.

And never forget, men in kilts have been kicking the arses of men in troosers for many many years. You have nothing to fear.

Be a duck. Calm on the surface and paddling like hell under the water.

In other words go for it.

I hope you let yourself wear the kilt to school Johnathan. I remember the queasy feeling in my stomach the first time I went out to the mall wearing my kilt, but it soon turns to a swelling of the chest with pride. When you step out with confidence and pride there will always be someone who takes that as a challenge and wants to diminish you. Don't let them. They are expressing their own insecurities and you don't have to own those problems. Stand your ground proudly. You are expressing and representing a rich heritage, and everyone of us is behind you.

At the local community college my eldest daughter attends they even have a celtic history class that encourages the participants to wear kilts as part of the course work. (my daughter tells me that unfortunately most of them are pretty poor examples) Check and see if your school has a similar class.

I graduated from Temple University in 92, and I wore my kilt to class on many occasions and at that time kilts where almost non exsistant except for the occasional pipe band in the local parade. Now I don't know how many of you are familiar with the main campus at Temple, well lets just say it is not the nicest part of town. Anyway, other than the few odd looks and the occasional thumbs up, I did not get much comment. After all, you are on a college campus, the largest collection of freaks, geeks, and odd balls you could imagine. The only reason you'll stand out is because you will look some what normal.

Wear it loud wear it proud.

Again, well said -- bwahahahaha!

Why is "Animal House" coming to mind right now?

"Fat, drunk and kilted is no way to through life, son!"

    With apologies to Dean Wermer.

    Cheers,

So did you wear the kilt? How did things turn out?

Hey!... it will happen when you want it to happen. To put things in perspective, wearing a kilt in front of your peers is similar to going on stage. The feelings of apprehension are just the same. Just remember that you have an advantage. You already know all the smart@$$ quips that might get thrown at you and how to counter them. What you might not be prepared for is the attention you'll likely get from the girls. They'll love your legs and admire your testicular fortitude. The other guys will no doubt be envious of the attention you get from the girls. I just wish, knowing what I know now, that I'd owned a kilt when I was your age!
