Terry, thank you for your gentle hand. However, I believe I truly do understand the spirit of the thread, hence my extreme enjoyment of it. And I completely agree with your assessment of HRH's overall style. I think I got hung up on a couple of posts regarding starting a new trend of mixing leather colors based on HRH's practice of doing so. (I am too lazy to go back and read all of the posts to confirm that, but I think that is what I read). I don't care who the wearer is, with few exceptions, I don't think that is a good look. So, as you said, I will do as I would with anyone else and emulate, or find inspiration in, those things that I like and leave the rest. I thank you for your thoughtful feedback. Now, ON WITH THE PHOTOS ! :-)

Hmmm, yes a return to the pics would be good, but we do need to understand that whether it meets the fashion sense of other parts of the world or not, the wearing of black shoes with other colours of leathers is traditional in the Highlands. The Duke is not a leader in fashion; he is a superb follower of tradition with consistent touches of his own personal style.

Perhaps the as-yet unasked question is this:
Is it even possible to truly wear Traditional Highland Attire without emulating the style that is worn by Scots in the Highlands?
That is, perhaps when folks throughout the world "modify" Traditional Highland Attire to fit their own fashion sensibilities it ceases to be Traditional Highland Attire and becomes something else.
Cordially,
David

Can anyone tell me what tartan HRH is wearing at the very end of McMurdo's post #26. ? The medium green with orange and black. I really like that one.
Thanks,

Thanks,
I believe it is the George VI Tartan, a green Stewart tartan.
