Smayminator is my alternate handle here at work, but Smayniac fits so much better, and I like the flow of the sound.

My handle is my given name. I understand it's from the Gaelic for "Devotee of the Virgin Mary," and is translated into English as "Morrison," hence the clan of that name. My surname is also Scots, but when I joined here I was reluctant to put too much information out on the internet.
Gilmore was my maternal grandmother's maiden name. Her ancestors were among the Scots who settled the Cape Fear River valley in North Carolina, mostly in Cumberland County, in the mid-18th Century. Later they supported the Revolution, and after the war were among the winners of land lotteries for its veterans, their widows and orphans, and won land in middle Georgia, where most of them lived until scattering in recent generations. There are still some there of that name, though I have only met two other men who have it as a given name, both cousins.

Strangely, out in the real world, several people call me Bear.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

Scott's my first name. I like to BBQ, and joined several BBQ forums...So I chose something like "Jimmy the fish" "Scotty Da Q". Now I just use that everywhere.
Anyone hungry?

I use my personal email account name, whiterav as my XMTS handle (whiterav@pa.net). When I first got my first personal email account, I had just bought a white Toyota Rav 4. Not wanting to give out personally identifying over the Internet, I came up with whiterav. Nine years later, I still have that white Rav 4, and will be driving it Valley Forge on Friday for the Mid Winter in Valley Forge.

Rogerson is my last name and 785 is my area code. I guess this will have to change when I retire from the Army and move.
