I was wondering about that. I just checked, it's at 11,315 now!

Welcome Mrs. Warmack. It is my honor to add my signature to the petition in support of Nathan's right to wear the kilt. May he continue to wear it proudly.

I am beginning to feel sorry for the principal, how can he issue an apology without feeling somehow pressured in doing so? Maybe he knows that we who signed the petition are right (as we know we are) and cannot find a way to let Nathan wear his kilt without eating "crow"
There are indeed many wonderful comments.

Gas on the fire
So who's up for a friendly visit to Jackson on the next day school is in session to simply express to the Principal the err of his ways? I live about 6 hours away, and I'm willing to drive down for a Monday morning meet and greet. I'd think a few dozen kilted gentlemen in the school's foyer might make an impression upon him... ;) COMPLETELY Peacefully, of course.

I'm 3 1/2 hours away. I'll drive up there. However, I'm waiting to hear about a school board meeting. My ### is willing to roll in for that. Might even paint myself blue

Instead of the principal, you might instead meet a member of the local constabulary. Best to wait for the school board meeting, and even then, I wouldn't do anything unless Nathan's lawyer okays it, or we hear something via Royce -- wouldn't want to do anything that would hurt Nathan's cause.
Cheers,
Todd

We are waiting to hear from the lawyer. He said he would take care of Nathan's request for an open meeting. There are alot of people wanting to come but if it's a closed meeting I don't know what to do. It may have to wait for the next meeting because I don't know if we have to go before the board to waive the right to a closed meeting. If Nathan waives his rights to a closed meeting I don't know if that means we are required to have an open meeting or not. Right now it is just wait and see. Wainting to hear from the lawyer.

Once again, my keyboard is faster than my brain. I wouldn't dream to doing anything to hurt Nathan's case. Please be sure to let us know if we can do anything to help out. I'm sure many are interested in helping you.

I would suggest retraint. We were having a nice crac on another thread about human "tribalism". A small town, and this one is about village sized, is very much a tribe. Either your great grandfather got busted for snitching apples from the Mayor's grandfathers orchard or you are "other". And "other" is always suspect and somewhat feared. If a hoard of "others" show up spoiling for a fight, the villagers will line up on the village green sholder to sholder, shields overlapped, and die to the man where they stand to protect "their" village/tribe from the sassanach (outlanders)...food for thought. Human nature trumps logic and reason every time.
