Does anyone have any idea to get suitable hobnails or heel plates for reproduction shoes (latchets or buckles) of the period? I can't find anything that isn't for Ancient Roman sandals or British/German military boots. Were such things even worn in the days of the uprisings?

I'm not sure if there is a more appropriate tread for this question but Jacobite garb wearers may be able to point me in the right direction. At the Battle of Culloden there were Scottish troops who fought for the British government (Louden's Highland Regiment and I think there may have been a newly raised company of Black Watch who had been dislocated from the Regiment when the Regiment moved south prior to the Rising - or something like this). Do we know if they wore kilts of any type and what they looked like?

From what I undertstand, Loudon's men at Culloden - also referred to as the Argyll Militia, being Clan Campbell men - were not uniformed, but garbed in their own typical highland dress. They were only to be distinguished from their Jacobite highland opponents by the color of their cockades.
