Just got the Old Pulteney Navigator. Bourbon and sherry casked.
Most tasting notes I've read indicate honey, orange, chocolate or cocoa, a touch spicy with a salt "hint" at the finish. I get all that except the chocolate and cocoa hints. Added a couple of drops of water and the orangy hints come out more. Good stuff! The hint of salt balances the sweet notes.
While not my favorite whisky, it's highly enjoyable.

Old Pulteney is not available, off the shelf, in North Carolina. Last month, I had my local ABC store order a case of Old Pulteney 12 for me. It came in today! With a golden red amber color, smelling of oak and salty sea air, it tastes of honey and cream and sea salt. And, oh, my Brothers, I have 6 bottles!
Slainte!
