Admittedly, my wife gets a little frustrated when I'm wearing my tartans, but it's primarily because she has a tough time wearing something that is equally nice looking, or even matching my tartans.

Luckily, there is no worry about her feeling like she is with a woman, maybe because every one of our gay friends think that there is nothing sexier than a man in a kilt, and these dudes are NOT comfortable with the female form, whatsoever. ;)

Seriously, though. Any advice on female dress accompanying a tartan that doesn't involve highland dress?

Geoduck, get her a kilted skirt to match your tartan. No need to go into full blown highland dress, just a kilted skirt.

Not a bad idea, Bubba. The only issue is finding her tartan. I'll pursue the idea. The main issue is a few up comming weddings that I will most definately be kilted, but the summer weddings where she will want something a little cooler.

    jilted wife

    Thanks for all the advice

I like the flower idea. I have decided to order a new kilt anyway despite any grief I may get. I earn my share of the breadbasket, so I feel I should reap some of the benifits as well.

I am sure that in time she will get used to me kilted I may be the only one in town to wear a kilt, but I am also the only one man enough

I enjoy wearing my kilt very much and I am not ready to give up or give in to any pressure she may give me.As the saying goes,"life is too short
to sweat the small stuff."I know this first hand

I thank all of you for the support.

It's your life, brother. Live it by your rules. Stay strong for yourself and you can be strong for others, including her. That, "feels like I'm walking with a woman," comment is nothing more than an arm twister; a way to control.
Wearing a kilt harms no one and enhances your own life. She will adapt to living with the town kiltie when she sees more of the reactions of daily kilt wear. Or she will be too insecure to handle it.
The former is the norm. The latter I have never seen when a resolute man clearly insists on wearing his kilt.
    People adapt.
