The pipe band won't be playing though. This is an invasion in the truest sense. Champion's does not know we are coming. They have plenty of seating and it is a weeknight, so they will have no trouble seating us. It is a long story of how we ended up going to Champion's and the announcement coming out at the last minute.
Yes, David, we do expect to come -- I don't know what time exactly. The plan sounds good, except I only want to bring home a cute waitress if she can cook and clean. She doesn't have to be cute, even.
We've never been to Champion's, but it sounds like a good choice for the invasion! I didn't think your announcement was last minute... MY announcement of the Battlefield Band concert was a bit late, since I didn't send it out to the SASMM til the night before! I didn't see any of our members there, but it was a full house and I was in the front, so I may have missed seeing them. I hope some did catch the show, as it was fabulous!
Can you bring some flyers for the Celtic Festival to Champion's? Maybe we can leave a stack of them there for patrons to pick up.

Basically what happened is that I went around to several restaurants, telling them what we were wanting to do. A group of about 10 to 15 come in have drinks, appetizers, drinks, dinner, more drinks, dessert, and dessert drinks, and we would be kilted. The responses from most was basically we can set up a happy hour in the back from 3 to 6. After 6 you all have to leave to make room for the dinner crowd. First of all who is off work and home by 6 in our area with traffic. I work in Northern VA, and will have to leave work at 3. I know these restaurants, there is no Wed. dinner crowd, we would be the crowd. I was originally thinking of invading one of those places, but I saw Champions, and saw the inside of it and knew they would not be busy Wed. It is a sports bar with TVs everywhere, pool tables, darts, and they sell draught Guinness, Bass, and Sierra Nevada. They do also have GlenLivet and Drambuie.

Thanks for doing all that leg work, David! What idiotic responses from the restaurants! If we're eating dinner, doesn't that make us part of the 'dinner crowd'? I guess they don't like the idea of tying up several tables for a few hours, rather than herding the diners in and out like cattle to the feed trough.
We need to establish a relationship with a local watering hole that will be more welcoming! Maybe Champion's will become such a place. Did you enquire at Brewer's Alley? They have a good selection of whiskies to recommend them, as well as a good beer and ale list.
Did you see my note (above) about bringing Festival flyers? I don't have a full stack left, but I thought you may have more of them.

Happy Tartan Day to all.
Took the day off work. Celebrating my birthday today, as well. Visited a local kilt shop, wearing my 4yd Black Stewart, placed an order for an 8yd in Modern MacBeth. Six to eight weeks is a loooong time to wait.
Received lots of comments, today, about the kilt. All positive. Perhaps Tartan Day is more widely known than I'd thought.

Ditto!! LOLOL.
I'm celebrating tartan day by wearing my MacDuff tie, which my Dad bought me when I was in high school when we we studying MacBeth in British Lit.

Typical Tartan Day for me. Wore Kilt, Argll coat and tie to the office, endured the usual good natured abuse from the office folks, and compliments as well.
It's warm here today, and the office air conditioning isn't up yet, so the kilt got a little hot and scratchy, so I bailed out early and came home, via the grocery store (looks, no comments).
So I ended up sitting on the front porch, enjoying my pipe and the daily paper. One of my neighbors stopped by to talk, and I got my only kilt check of the day. Her dog Chester headed right between my legs, and jumped straight up. -w00t- Cold nose in the nether regions!

Dogs sure do enjoy sticking their noses up there, though...
I guess its a different view than they're used to.
