Sporran Strap

Someone was asking about the strap I was wearing in another picture. Here's a clearer shot of the strap. I made it from some plain rawhide strap I got from the Tandy leather store.

WOW..now thats a sporran strap ! i second Switchblades comment on the write up. at least some more pics and show us the details.. ( wishing i had talent like that )..

I like it! And the screws for connecting the two pieces together is an interesting solution. No buckle in the back.

Inquiring minds want to know...looks like you picked a spot on each strap at which to start the split into three pieces, then braiding begins, braiding ends at the conchos -- good style selection on those -- do they secure a piece of the leather braid that gets cut? Trying to get my mind to work around that bit 'cause I can't make it out in the picture

How did I miss this? Thats a great strap. You did an outstanding job on it.

I know a fair amount about leatherwork and will trade the secret of the braiding for a hand sewn tank. Just kidding! :grin:

Its called a mystery braid. Looks complicated but actually perty easy to do. Just google mystery braid. http://www.rudedogleather.com/classe...y/mystery.html
