Actually he's quite serious. I used to ride a lot and I can tell you that I saw them all the time. A blanket will have a tendency to slide across the leather. A fitted wool pad is the way to go.

well my best friend, and his fiance' <sp> have 12 clydesdales......and they said I could come out and go for a ride when ever I want ......I might just have to go kilted ...and bring a camera.... thing is though if I ride a Clyde....Im not using a saddle I think bareback is the way to go on a big beastie like that!

Do they make saddles that will fit a Clydesdale?
Actually Clydesdales were never war horses, they were breed along Strath Clyde as work horses from the beggining. Very gentle critters, almost like hugh puppies. Percherions (sp) were war horses,,not sure about Belgians.

Back in the late 19th C, Ian Hamilton of the Gordons mentions riding kilted on parade and how uncomfortable it was.

He was later General Hamilton.

wow two birds one stone a kilted santa piper and a kilted rider. Still not going side saddle though .I repeat in no uncertain terms kilts are for men side saddles are for ladies
