Probably the best reply posted so far. :-)

OK. That one got me laughing out loud! And it takes a lot just to get me to change my expression.
I can't even stop laughing while I'm writing this.

I've never been whistled at by a stranger and I want to know WHY NOT? I'm just joking about my being hurt by the lack of whistles. I've been approached by men and women telling me that I look quite dashing in my kilt, and I've been hit on by both sexes while kilted, but none as ever thought to whistle. Hopefully that's more a comment on the types of places I frequent than on my appearance.

Hmm...
The guy was probably trying to get your goat, Mike and thinking he was funny...Interesting thought, never seems to happen when there's a group of us wearing kilts

I had an interesting experience today. Interesting in a good way.
I had to go to the main bus garage to sign up for this years vacation. Most of the other drivers know that I wear kilts, but very few of them have actually seen me in one. Well...quite a few of them can't say that now.
The kilt went over rather well. Lots of compliments, and a few good natured teasing comments. One of the female drivers got me the best, though. As I walked by her table in the cafeteria she casually tossed a $20 bill on the floor.
Was I upset? Of course not! These are friends and co-workers, so it was all taken in stride. The one driver there that I expected some kind of comment from surprised me by not saying a word. The fellow is from Scotland, so I was surprised when he seemed to ignore me.

After some consideration , I have come to the conclusion that it's only an insult if I chose it to be. I would have liked nothing better than to have turned around and charge the guy with sgian drawn and threatened him with the clan war cry. Alas, we live in a different time and that behavior is no longer acceptable.
I'm aware that I'm doing something different by wearing a kilt also, my choice. My poor condition at the time had a lot to do with how I felt in that moment, I'm glad I did not let them get the best of me. It was rude coming from a complete stranger, but I think that is where the story ends. Slainte
