Let me count the ways:
- It's incredibly comfortable
- It makes me look damn good
- I feel manly when wearing a kilt
- It's so damn comfortable
- It lets me really make my wardrobe colorful in an acceptable way
- I feel in touch with my heritage
- It's just sooooo comfortable
- My spouse says I look good in a kilt
- I've never been hit on by others as much as now that I'm kilted
- My bad leg actually hurts more when I have to point my foot and put on trousers
- Did I mention that kilts are really comfortable?
- It's a great conversation starter
- They just feel "dressier" than pants even when I'm in a casual mood, and I like that.
- Oh, and by the way, KILTS ARE TOO COMFORTABLE FOR WORDS!!!

keeps me warm and cool
I love wearing kilts, because much like today, I can come home from work and strap one on, and walk to get my wife from work. When I start out I am plenty warm, when I need a little breeze to cool off I just walk quicker and get the swishing going. Wearing a kilt makes me walk tall and look people in the eye, part to see reactions and part because I am so proud of the garmet I am wearing. What a versital and comfortable piece of clothing.

It's what I wear. Do I need any other reasons? I don't think so.

Err...that's a good question!
Started as a long lasting fascination...the tartan, Scotland and the kilt. I like kilts for as long as I can remember...when I finally ordered my 1st kilt almost 4 months ago, it was a "now or never" decision.
No clue about comfort...didn't think about all the other things you "need", wasn't sure about "when to wear" the kilt...I just ordered the damn thing
When I got it...I was thrilled, but also very uncertain about it...when I removed the basting threads and put it on the 1st time...I became addicted...instantly.
The feel of wearing a 16oz was overwhelming...the look also...I think I spend over an hour in front of the mirror....just looking at myself and the kilt.
Just one thought: "This is it!"
Not a costume, not something for special occasions only, not (another) folly of mine...love at first sight and I felt comfortable wearing it instantly.
Now I've 3 kilts and 2 more ordered.
Why I love it? I don't know...I just love wearing kilts, regardless what others think of it...it's the way I dress and I'm more then happy with it.
Oh...I look good wearing a kilt...I think...err...well....you know?
Anyway...I'm pleased...very pleased.
Cheers to you! damn X-Markers! without this forum...

It's a bold statement of heritage in the midst of an increasing ethnically diverse influx...
and
It's a chick magnet.
