Improper wearing of the kilt
I work in a photo lab and get to see 100's of pics of kilt wearers at weddings. There is an obvious error made by all whereby the kilt and socks meet. No knees people ! Clearly the hirers offer no advice on how it should be worn. Another horrid mistake is some people tie their shoe laces in a crisscross fashion right up their legs. I bought my kilt in Inverness and was also told that when wearing a waistcoat, you shouldn't wear a belt. Another mistake.
I like to wear my kilt as often as I can. My hobby is when I visit around Scotland, I like to buy an accessory for it. I have 2 handmade sporrans from Perth, kilt pins from Oban and so on.
I suppose at the end of the day us purists want to follow the proper code, but at the end of the day so long as the kilt gets worn that's good enough for me. Let's see it more often, not just at weddings.

Even though it's commonly seen, you aren't supposed to wear a belt with a waistcoat. Even in "Saxon" wear, one eschews a belt when wearing a three-piece-suit. A bespoke tailored suit (with a waistcoat) will have buttons for braces and/or adjustable side tabs. No belt loops!
