I'd be willing to drive up to Phoenix and carpool over with the Arizona contingent. I'll check with my appointment clerk tomorrow and see if I'm clear (busy time of year). O'Neille

Heck! I really don't know how things work over there but I suppose, if we're not 'booked in', and it being a Saturday, we'd better make it early rather than late.
If this event were happening here in the United Kingdom and under similar circumstances, I'd think 7.30pm would be the best time to aim for - not really any later. However, another important consideration is the convenient timing for you guys who have distances to travel. I imagine I can be there for any time you choose once I know we are settled on the evening of Saturday 14th October - just need to advise my hosts that I'll be away for the evening.
By the way, my pal Jim, who is taking this holiday/vacation with me from England (it is his friends we are staying with in Palm Springs) will be coming along to our 'Gathering', if that's alright? He is also a kilt-wearer, but does not get involved with Internet groups and forums.
Cannot tell you how much I am looking forward to this. Hope a good number of you can make it across the desert!!

It sounds like things are coming together. The journey across the desert should not be very perilous in the 21st century....depending upon the vehicles we choose, of course.
I am curious as to how many people we have from AZ and CA (Arizona and California). Retro Red didn't know yet if he could make it - if he does go he will be taking his own vehicle because he will also be visiting relatives in the area.
I will volunteer to drive up to five guys (myself included) from Phoenix if someone else will navigate. I can't walk and chew bubble gum at the same time, to say nothing of driving and reading maps at the same time.

Ok guys. So is this event actually happening? I am sorry but I really need to know as our host in Palm Springs has suggested taking us, Jim and me, out "somewhere special" for the evening of Saturday 14th October!!
I have asked that he put his plan on hold for a couple of days whilst I confirm that we'll be meeting up with you guys that evening.
May I take it that we ARE to meet at Durty Nellie's in Palm Desert (South of Palm Springs? Am I right?) on Saturday 14th October and, if so, at what time?

As far as I am concerned, you tell me where and when and I will be there.
I am attempting to coordinate the trip with O'Neille.

I will make tentative plans to leave from Los Angeles. I can't be sure because I will be having rotator cuff surgery soon and I don't know what kind of shape I'll be in on that date.

I can make it almost anytime on Saturday, I'm booked out of the office on Friday already. If the weather is nice I'll fly and not drink. If it's so-so I'll drive over have a few drinks and hotel it for the night. O'Neille
