It's a pretty severe diet ... I started the diet the day after I got back from my honeymoon. -33 lbs since then.
First, I'd like to extend my congratulations. I know how much effort it takes to accomplish what you've done.

Normally I wouldn't step into a discussion of this sort, but this appears to be such an extreme case.

I respectfully recommend you do not sell your kilts and belts just yet. Please note that the key word in that sentence is "respectfully."

There is very little likelihood that the diet you describe could be considered a sustainable lifestyle change unless the diet was undertaken in response to a (rather severe) medical condition. The overwhelming odds are that sooner or later you will experience fatigue - a perfectly natural reaction - with the extreme efforts required to at first reduce, and then to maintain your weight using that approach.

Again, this post is submitted with utmost respect for your personal judgment of your medical and dietary requirements. I apologize if you have already addressed these issues; please disregard this post.

    This should clear that up...

BP 170/110, triglycerides three times "normal."

Doc hasn't changed the meds yet, and I'm currently holding a daily average of 100/65. He says I'll probably be off the Benicar in a month.

It came down to rolling the numbers on my likelihood for heart problems and/or adult-onset diabetes, and I didn't like the results. Not at all.

I'm going to be doing my level best not to exceed 190lbs for the rest of my life.

If I may ask, how tall are you? Height has a HUGE difference as to "ideal" weight. My "normal" is from 170-210 or there abouts (I'm 6-1 or 2-> I've been measured at BOTH).
Actually a kilt would provide a VERY good measure of how the weight is being maintained. I'll use that one too.
I wish you the best of "luck" in your endevors!

(Note-> I have no ill feelings regarding the weight/battles of others on this forum. I am not antagonistic to those of "larger girth." Nothing negative is intended in my comments.)

Congrats on the weight loss. I to am fighting the battle. My father & brother have had heart surgery and I still need to get down another 20 and my Dr. wants to put me on blood pressure meds but I have brought it down a lot.
    Keep up the good work.

I'm 5' 11" in bare feet, and I don't really match any of the "regular" profiles. I'm a bit wider than I really look, and most people seem to think I'm already in the 190lb range as it is.

Doc, what kind of kilt belts do you have. If they are the kind with the small buckle in the middle of the belt, and the small strap that adjusts for length, you can shorten them by drilling out the rivets which hold the little buckle and moving them closer to the end of the belt that holds the big buckle. Then, you replace the rivets with black rivets to fill the holes left when you drilled them. It is hardly noticable. I'd post a pic of the two belts I did, but I need batteries for my camera and my check is still a week away. I got the rivets and rivet tool from Tandy Leather company.

Congrats on the weight loss! Having to have your straps moved in is a problem that most would love to have. Good on you for your efforts and for the forethought in having the adjustment guarantee.

Ah, I understand. Sorry if my question was a little personal.

I'm also 5'-11" and have managed to keep to about 170 pounds most of my life specifically because there is such a long and scary history of heart disease on my father's side of the family. All the males seem to drop dead at 55, which pretty much sucks.

I'm 52 and I'll be going out for my daily run when I'm done typing this.

Keep up your efforts, kilts be damned. Congratulations and keep it up!
