I'm also Jonesing for a 16 oz. Strome boxpleat (Henderson 'weathered') from Matt. I'm 93 days into the wait, but who's counting??

Oh, and I'm also "straight edge" which apparently is something similar to "teatotal."

So, what did you order, you might ask? First a box-pleat from Matt in the Isle of Skye tartan pleated to the grey stripe and an 8yd MacKinnon hunting ancient pleated to the orange stripe.

Now, my question for the rabble...... How do you handle the waiting? To make it even more interesting, the MacKinnon hunting has to be weaved and will likely not be ready until early May! Oh my!

As a last note, many, many thanks to Matt for his patience and expertise in walking a newbie through this process. My wife and I both very much appreciated this. I can certainly recommend him to any one wanting to order their first kilt!

That is a rather humorous statement as it took me two years to save the funds to order the kilts! My desire for these first came about after a visit to Scotland two years ago.

The idea for the box-pleat came about during the 2005 Stone Mountain Highland Games. What eventually pushed me over the edge was my nephews wedding that is coming in June. As long as they are complete by then, I will be a happy camper!

    WOW.
I'm rarely one to take offense to much of anything. But, I don't think there is any need for generalizations such as that. Boo.

I wouldn't take offense, Brad--that's pretty much head-on, I think, and most of us would agree with that statement. I think it's hard to get the sense in a message of what people mean when they say something via e-mail, internet, etc . . . which is why we have smilies!

I have been following this thread closely, as I too need advice on waiting on a kilt. I ordered a 6yd Knife pleated casual kilt from Matt on Monday. All I do is picture in my head how it will look.

The waiting is the worst part. In the future, reserve just a little bit of cash and when the jonesing gets unbearable, order a SWK and get the instant gratification that will help you to the end. So wonderful to place the order and the next day to get the email saying "You're kilt is in the box and on the way . . ." Hang in there. You'll make it.

Weren't the Scots the first to clone "Dolly the Sheep"? Perhaps Matt could spare some of his DNA and they could work on cloning HIM so more kilts can be made faster. Matt, how do you manage right now??????

I've wondered that about poor Matt myself. He's certainly a busy guy and most folks don't even realize the half of it!
