Has she never handled one of your kilts? That's too bad. Hopefully you can find a home for that one.

Barb, that is a great question! And I wish I had a definitive answer. It appears to be a bit heavier than my SWK heavyweight Weathered Lamont, if that tells you anything. It also seems to be heavier than the last batch of XMarks, which was 14oz. I believe? Thos are the only 2 I can compare it to that might give you an idea (although I just spent 10 minutes in my closet fondling the scrap piece in one hand while I compared it to all my other kilts with my other hand!). I suppose I could try to lay a yard on my postage scale, but that is probably only going to be a very rough approximation.

Huh - I'm surprised - tartan with such a small set is typically light weight tartan.
You could try telling her that, until you cut out the bulk at the waistline where the pleats are, it will feel bulky, even if it's lightweight tartan. This is particularly try in the case of this kilt because the pleats are so deep and there's so much overlap. Once that's done, and the kilt is actually buckled on, it won't feel heavy or stiff at all.

Just did a little sleuthing on kilt skirts, and the ones I found actually are complete mirror images. Not saying it can't be done the other way, but apparently people who make kilt skirts (which I don't, hence my ignorance!) typically have the pleats opening the other way. So, if I had to make a choice, I'd be likely to reverse everything, particularly if I were a left-handed person!
