Congratulations! Does this mean that you will change your name to the Kilted Skipper? Seriously Pics of you and your boat and any kilted crew you get!

Alan - as a sailor myself and long term cruiser I wish you nothing but fair seas and following winds. Judy and I have a Newport 41 on the East Coast in NC, so if you are ever out this way and want a sail give us a yell.

Alan, I am so  with envy. No lakes around here that are really big enough for one of those. I'll be bringing my Dad's Snipe down from Estes Park, probably this year, as soon as I find a place I can store it. Need$ too many repair$ to be put in the water thi$ year. It was built in '74 I believe so not the lightest Snipe around

    Alan-

Congratulations! I hope you have fun on your sail to the Islands. I agree that a sound hull/so-so looks is far better than pristine appearance/clapped out hull. The price is always better that way. That's how I bought all of my boats.

BTW, I know how to sail a little bit (it's been a while) but I have owned only low-profile hi-performance skiboats. Go figure.

I sailed solo from SF to Hanalei in 1996, but I tagged along a day behind the race fleet...didn't quite get it together in time to qualify. In 2004 I had a well prepared boat and tried again, but the boat wasn't quite structurally up to it, and a 35 knot gale off the California coast put an end to that adventure.

Piper George, however, has done the race, and completed it...

I sold the boat that didn't make it in 2004 and have been boatless for about 10 months. A LOT of SC 27's have sailed to Hawaii, and I'm gonna take this one....again...she's already done the trip back in the mid 80's.

Keepofthegrass....I'll see you in July, 2008!
    Wow!!

We know about how setting sail for a three-hour tour can turn out . . .

    Congrats on your new boat!

Congratulations, I saw your old boat pics and was wondering which one of us would cave in first. I win, still boatless. I loose, still oceanless. It's good to see so many w/ the bug. I still have dreams of waking up w/o a watch and wondering what time it is, what day it is, and where I am. O'Neille
