My favorite is the Ancient(sp?) Crawford. It is also my families Tartan.

The tartan-necktie I wore at work on Tartan Day was wonderfully special-ordered for me by Matt Newsome at the Tartan Museum, the District-of-Fife, for my biological grandfather:

Thanks Matt. It looks outstanding with a red shirt! Someday I hope to get a kilt in this and am considering having it pleated to the paired-red-stripes.

My favorite is the Sackett:

but what I wore was a quasi-Hunting Stewart plaid shirt and my hemp RKilt.

I like this weathered County Down. I'd like to get a nice sturdy tank made of it someday.

But when it comes to the best Tartan Day tartan cloth, this Morrison is the quintessential tartan -- it's what one expects tartan to look like. Nothing either too subtle or too brash about it, just the right colors in the right rhythm.

I've got to say that my favorite tartan is the MacLeod of Lewis. It's the tartan that I have strongest ties to. It also stands out in a crowd .

Stands out in a crowd? Heck, it's a known fact that MacLeod of Lewis is the only tartan that can be seen from outer space.

See!

I'm with Raptor,
Wore my weathered Gordon on Tartan Day. No particular reason, just its turn in the "kilt rotation." But I do love the tartan and I'm proud of my very strong Gordon line.

Carolina tartan
Since to me, Tartan Day is all about honoring the contributions of Scots and those of Scottish descent to our (USA) country's history, I wore my state's district tartan, the Carolina tartan.
Here I am at the counter in the museum's gift shop on Tartan Day:

I'm also wearing my new Harris Tweed jacket and vest (since it was cold enough for it!) and Balmoral kilt hose.
I noticed Todd also selected a state tartan. Great looking one! The only thing better would be a pic of you wearing it in a kilt!

I was under the impression that the Buchannon (sp?) could too!

Don't worry, it's coming soon, Matt! Our camera at work is on the fritz, so I couldn't snap one on Friday!
