I already have a hand sewn Isle of Skye in wool from Kathy Lare. Might consider a PV for knock around.

Its a beautiful tartan and one of the most common tartans I see at Highland Games. I'm surprised that Marton Mills doesn't weave it up in PV as a regular offering for kiltmakers and other garment makers.

My only question is what the finished colors will look like in PV, guessing brighter due to the fibers. The beauty of the tartan is the softness of the colors and much of that comes from the wool.

I know what you mean about the soft muted colors of the IOS. MM does do muted tartans and because this is an "owned" tartan I'm sure they will try to stick as true to form as they can. PV threads may be dyed slightly darker or bolder I don't know, but I'm sure MacHummel will try to have it made as close as they can.
Because it's an "owned" tartan it comes with "royalty fees" and extra set-up charges and minimum purchase requirements that likely keep it from becoming a regular MM product. If you are willing to fit the bill, they will likely mill any tartan. After that it's just wait time to have the administration done, material made, shipped (can take a while) and kilt orders filled on a first paid first out basis.

CCK is offering this kilt at the same price as the Maple Leaf and the price that most of his 5 yrd kilts start at. You measurements for a 5-6yrd or 8 yrd kilt set the final price.
With the extra fee (royalty) it means CCK is taking the hit to make it available here first and then the general public later.
It's a good deal for a custom made kilt and will be worth the wait.

I'm in for a five-six yarder in the 250-275 range.

I'm another interested in fabric (6 yards double-width) but not a kilt. I know this is not what you are offering but just FYI in case you need enough backers to make the run work.

Pete, are we any closer to actually ordering this? How many more commitments do we need? Should we send Panache out to kneecap people ?
